Gigondas LaCave

Our wine cellar is right in the heart of the Dentelles de Montmirail, in the town of Gigondas. Our vineyards stretch across 313 hectares and produce Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise crus wines, and Côtes du Rhône, Villages and IGP wines.

Description

Since 1956, our winemakers, true ambassadors for the Crus in the Rhône Valley, cultivate their vines using a sustainable agricultural approach, in full respect of our terroirs. Our wines are on a par with our passionate winemakers, and fully express the demanding values and strong personalities behind them.

Gigondas La Cave, created in 1956 by a small group of winemakers whose desire was to sell their production in bottles, today has 74 members and accounts for 15% of the appellation, 128 hectares in AOP Gigondas, (260 ha in all the AOP combined).

Their approach, in the past, today and tomorrow, is a strong determination to work closely with the soil that sustains us, and to develop, with other winemakers, a very high-quality standard and image for the wine produced from these exceptional terroirs in and around the Dentelles de Montmirail.

The vines tended by our winemakers are in the entire Dentelles area, which has given rise to our slogan expression that is a play on words, expressing the 7 terroirs like 7 harmonious notes on the music scale. "7 terroirs, accords en sols majeurs": Pebbles, gravel, silt, colluvial deposits, zaffer, clay, chalky limestone... From the garrigue scrubland to the hills of the Dentelles de Montmirail, each terroir produce different grapes, with different ripening times, which explains the plot selection prior to harvesting, working with technicians, winemakers and our œnologists.

Today we are very proud to propose wines from around the Dentelles with the appellations: Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Beaumes de Venise and the famous Muscat de Beaumes de Venise.
